Summary:AttributesProperties | Detail:Attributes |
This class represents the results of a Drug Use Evaluation (DUE) or a Drug Utilization Review (DUR). Both phrases refer to an analysis of the use of the prescribed drug in the context of the patient’s overall drug and substance exposures, and disease state which would potentially cause that medication to be contra-indicated. This process may include the evaluating the prescribed drug against the patient’s allergies or intolerances. The phrases are distinct because one (the DUE) generally occurs during the ordering/dispense process, while the other (DUR) generally is performed after the drug has been dispensed. Note that some institutions use these phrases interchangeably. While this process is traditionally called DUE or DUR, this process often includes all kinds of Medical Products (including Medical Foods, etc.). Hence some institutions use the term Medication or Medical Product instead of the use of Drug.
Attributes | ||
«CS» Code | acknowledgementReason |
"Additional textual information regarding intervention and/or acknowledgment associated with a DUE conflict." For example, "Tolerated course of medication in October 2007" - NCPDP Script (Field 7998, Data Dictionary 201104). Note that this property is supported by NCPDP Script, but not by NCPDP Telecommunications. |
PractitionerParticipation | author |
Pointer to the medical professional who performed the Drug Use Evaluation.Note that neither NCPDP SCRIPT nor NCPDP Telecom contain this information directly in their Drug Use segments, but this data may correspond to the Provider (SCRIPT 4705, Telecommunication 444-E9) in the respective Provider segments. |
«CS» Code | clinicalSignifanceCode |
"Code identifying the significance or severity level of a clinical event as contained in the originating database." - NCPDP Script (Field 7997, Data Dictionary 201104). Note that this property is supported by NCPDP Script, but not by NCPDP Telecommunications. |
CoAgent | coAgent |
Pointer to another drug, disease state, or even a procedure that would alter the efficacy, action, or applicability of the medication under consideration, and therefore would potentially cause that medication to be contra-indicated. |
«TS» PointInTime | dateTime |
The date and time upon which the Drug Use Evaluation was performed. Because a DUR or DUE may occur multiple times in a single day, the use of the time is required.Note that neither NCPDP SCRIPT nor NCPDP Telecom contain this information directly in their Drug Use segments, but this date may correspond to the Service Date (SCRIPT I006, Telecommunication 457-EP). |
«CS» Code | levelOfEffort |
"Code indicating the level of effort as determined by the complexity of decision-making or resources utilized by a pharmacist to perform a professional service." - NCPDP Telecommunication (Field 474-8E, Data Dictionary 201104). NCPDP leaves the definitions of these levels to the discretion of the trading partners. NCPDP suggests several possible schemes, one of which is: 1=Straightforward, 2=Low Complexity, 3=Moderate Complexity, 4=High Complexity, Comprehensive. Note that this property is supported by NCPDP Telecommunications, but not by NCPDP Script. |
«CS» Code | professionalServiceCode |
Categorizes the action taken by a pharmacist or prescriber in response to a conflict or the result of a pharmacist's professional service."Code identifying pharmacist intervention when a conflict code has been identified or service has been rendered." - NCPDP Telecommunication (Field 440-E5, Data Dictionary 201104). Possible values include: Patient assessment; Coordination of care; Dosing evaluation/determination; Dosage evaluated; Formulary enforcement; Generic product selection; Prescriber consulted; Medication administration; Overriding benefit; Medication review; Previous patient tolerance; Patient education/instruction; Patient medication history; Patient monitoring; Patient consulted; Perform laboratory test; Pharmacist consulted other source; Recommend laboratory test; Self-care consultation; Literature search/review; Therapeutic product interchange; Other Acknowledgement; No intervention."Action taken in response to a conflict." - NCPDP Script (Field 7881, Data Dictionary 201104) |
«CS» Code | reasonForService |
Categorizes the type of drug utilization conflict detected by the prescriber or the pharmacist or the reason for the pharmacist's professional service. Examples include: Drug-Drug Interaction, Dose Range Conflict, Ingredient Duplication, etc."Code identifying the type of utilization conflict detected by the prescriber or the pharmacist or the reason for the pharmacist s professional service." - NCPDP Telecommunication (Field 439-E4, Data Dictionary 201104)."For further explanation, conflict, or clarification of services related to drug use evaluation.... Code identifying the type of conflict detected. When this composite is used, DUE Reason For Service Code is mandatory." - NCPDP Script (Field 7880, Data Dictionary 201104). |
«CS» Code | serviceResultCode |
"Action taken by a pharmacist or prescriber in response to a conflict or the result of a pharmacist’s professional service." - NCPDP Telecommunication (Field 441-E6, Data Dictionary 201104)."Action taken in response to a conflict." - NCPDP Script (Field 7882, Data Dictionary 201104) |
