Class DrugUseEvaluation

This class represents the results of a Drug Use Evaluation (DUE) or a Drug Utilization Review (DUR). Both phrases refer to an analysis of the use of the prescribed drug in the context of the patient’s overall drug and substance exposures, and disease state which would potentially cause that medication to be contra-indicated. This process may include the evaluating the prescribed drug against the patient’s allergies or intolerances. The phrases are distinct because one (the DUE) generally occurs during the ordering/dispense process, while the other (DUR) generally is performed after the drug has been dispensed. Note that some institutions use these phrases interchangeably. While this process is traditionally called DUE or DUR, this process often includes all kinds of Medical Products (including Medical Foods, etc.). Hence some institutions use the term Medication or Medical Product instead of the use of Drug.

Attributes
«CS» Code acknowledgementReason acknowledgementReason

"Additional textual information regarding intervention and/or acknowledgment associated with a DUE conflict." For example, "Tolerated course of medication in October 2007" - NCPDP Script (Field 7998, Data Dictionary 201104). Note that this property is supported by NCPDP Script, but not by NCPDP Telecommunications.

PractitionerParticipation author author

Pointer to the medical professional who performed the Drug Use Evaluation.
Note that neither NCPDP SCRIPT nor NCPDP Telecom contain this information directly in their Drug Use segments, but this data may correspond to the Provider (SCRIPT 4705, Telecommunication 444-E9) in the respective Provider segments.

«CS» Code clinicalSignifanceCode clinicalSignifanceCode

"Code identifying the significance or severity level of a clinical event as contained in the originating database." - NCPDP Script (Field 7997, Data Dictionary 201104). Note that this property is supported by NCPDP Script, but not by NCPDP Telecommunications.

Note that this property is supported by NCPDP Telecommunications, but not by NCPDP Script.
