The Gestational Age of a fetus or pre-maturely born infant is the number of weeks since the actual beginning of the mother's last menstrual period preceeding the pregnancy. This datum is used both prenatally and postnatally to estimate various risk factors. This datum may be used to determine the nutritional needs for infants.
