SpinalCord
The Spinal Cord Injury and Disorders Outcomes (SCIDO) domain originates from the VA VistA system. The FHIM team has not yet undertaken to model this domain, so it is largely a reflection of the VistA as-is data elements with the FHIM modeling style applied. As in many other modules of VistA, the Spinal Cord Injury and Disorders Outcomes begins with an SpinalCordRegistration file, which points to the Patient and adds additional demographic information. This file thus serves to identify the cohort of Patients that are of interest to the SCIDO program. The SCIDO program makes extensive use of Assessment Instruments (aka Questionnaires), performing assessments at various points in the rehabilitation process, and for various reasons (e.g., to set goals). Many of these assessment instruments (such as pain scales, pressure ulcers, addiction severity) are not specific to the Spinal Cord domain, so the FHIM points to the Assessment Domain for these. In fact, many of the assessment-related concepts in this model can be derived from the assessment results, and therefore many of these concepts can be derived or ignored entirely. We use classes to hold scores and subscores and then point to the actual assessment event in the Assessment domain (e.g., the SCI_SF-MPQ class hold subscores and points to the SFMPQAssessment).
