ClinicalDocument

The Clinical Document domain represents the structure needed to assemble and exchange clinical data in a document format. Unlike other domains in the FHIM which are clinical in nature, this domain is an infrastructure domain. It represents an amalgam of the concepts defined by the HL7 Clinical Document Architecture (CDA) and the FHIR Component Resource. Ordinarily we would not model an infrastructure domain in the FHIM, but because clinical information is widely handled in document form (e.g., Progress Notes, Discharge Summaries, etc.), it was determined that a representation of the common properties of documents is useful, if only to provide mappings to document concepts.
